Thank you for purchasing your Bird Buddy compatible cedar bird feeder from Blue Elk Woodworks. We hope you will enjoy your all-natural bird feeder for many years to come.
Feeder care
Your feeder has been treated with tung oil, a food-safe oil that penetrates the wood and helps preserve it. There may be a slight smell when you first receive it. That is expected and goes away once the feeder is outside.
Cedar weathers well and stays functional for years with little maintenance. It will fade as it weathers. To keep the color, a coat of wood sealer or linseed oil every few years works. Apply water-soluble stain or sealer to the outside only.
Installation
Insert the camera and you are ready. The magnet activates it. The camera is meant to fit snugly so it does not dislodge in weather or as the wood expands and contracts. To remove it, use the finger hole inside the feed hopper and push the camera out from the rear.
