Bird Buddy Compatible Cedar Feeder: What "Compatible" Means Here

Bird Buddy Compatible Cedar Feeder: What "Compatible" Means Here

Your camera. Our cedar house. Two different things.

“Compatible” can sound like a bundle, a partnership, or a promise about screws you have not seen. On our Solar Cedar Bird Feeder it is smaller than that. The feeder is built so you can set a Bird Buddy camera in it. The camera is yours. The cedar is ours. Here is the plain version.

What “compatible” means on this feeder

Start with the job. This is a handmade cedar feeder meant to upgrade or replace a plastic Bird Buddy housing. You insert the Bird Buddy camera you already have, or one you buy separately, add seed, and you are ready to feed birds.

The product page says the feeder is handmade to fit the Bird Buddy camera, so you can get close-up photos. That is the fit we mean by compatible: a place for that camera on this feeder.

It does not publish hole sizes, screw patterns, or camera model numbers. If you need those before you order, they are not on the page, and we will not guess them. A care and install sheet ships with every feeder. That sheet is the how-to.

Think of it like a phone case. “Fits this phone” means you bring the phone. The case company is not the phone company, and the phone is not in the box.

What it does not mean

The camera is not included. The listing says so in the description and again in the bullet list: insert your Bird Buddy camera (not included). We do not sell the camera.

We are not Bird Buddy. Compatible is our description of the mount and fit. It is not a claim that Bird Buddy made this feeder, endorsed it, or partnered with us. If you want the camera, the app, or their support, that is their product. If you want this cedar feeder, that is ours.

It is not a hanging feeder. The page says pole mount only, and “designed for pole mount only.” It also says a pole mount is easy to add. It does not say a pole comes in the box, and it does not list a pole diameter. Plan on your own pole.

“Solar” is not a spec sheet. The listing calls this a replacement feeder with solar power and lists cedar plus a solar roof. It does not give wattage, say whether a battery is inside, or explain how the roof connects to a camera. Those details are not stated.

Wildlife wrecked a plastic feeder. That is a story, not a rating. The maker’s note says a plastic Bird Buddy feeder in the Colorado foothills was destroyed by bears, elk, and raccoons, which is why he built a cedar one. That explains the origin. It is not a promise that this feeder is bear-proof. Animals are inventive. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

What the listing does spell out

Here is the short list, in plain language.

  • Handmade in Evergreen, Colorado. That is where it is made. The feeder is for anyone in the U.S. who wants it, not only neighbors up the hill.
  • Cedar body and a solar roof.
  • Finished with food-safe tung oil.
  • Pole mount only.
  • Bird Buddy camera not included.
  • Stated size: 10.75 in high × 9 in wide × 11.5 in deep.
  • A care and install sheet in the box.
  • The page also says it is easy to clean.

A sensible way to set it up

The order of operations is ordinary.

  1. You already own a Bird Buddy camera, or you buy one on your own. It does not come from us.
  2. This feeder is the cedar house: seed on our side, your camera in the spot the feeder is built for.
  3. It goes on a pole. Not a hook, not a branch.
  4. Add seed. The page does not name a blend, so use whatever you already trust for the birds in your yard.
  5. Read the care and install sheet before you drill or tighten anything.

If the plastic housing you have now is tired, or just not the look you want, that is the “upgrade or replace” the listing is talking about. You keep the camera. You change the house it sits in.

Compatible, on this one product, stays a small word. It means the cedar feeder is made to take a Bird Buddy camera you supply. It does not mean we sell that camera, include it, or speak for Bird Buddy.
